I still have yet to tell my parent that I'm a lesbian, even though I've told everyone else in my family. My dad would hate me, and my mom would just freak out.

Give your parents a chance, you may be surprised. Love in it's purest form is unconditional, the human factor is quite flawed. At worst they it may take them some time to understand your life choice. Similar to religion, sexual preference is a personal matter which only you can decide. -esc

had a friend who thought the same way her parents both took it fine. GOOD LUCK !!!

Unless your parents are religious wackos, the chances are good that once they get over their initial shock, they will decide that they'd rather have a happy, secure gay daughter than a daughter who is miserable because she is pretending to be someone she isn't. That would be the natural response of parents who truly love you. Also, dear one, if you've told "everyone else in [your] family", it's only a matter of time before they find out - if they haven't already.

I once had a fantasy that I had spectacular sex with a lesbian, and I was so good in the sack that she became hetero to stay with me. But in reality, I was with a hetero girl until she decided that she really wanted to only have sex with women. I guess I converted her away from hetero. I must really be lame in the sack.

I htought the same thing beofre I cam out the closet. Growing up my father always told me that people with AIDS and who are GAY should be put on a island and blown up. He also told me that he would dis own any kid if they were gay. I came out 5 years ago and My father loves me just the same. and in fact it helped change his views a lil. You never know..don't be scared.

Then don't tell them.

Good luck, can't imagine how hard that would be. probably not worth delaying though. Any hardship will be rewarded in spades by being true to yourself. (I am a man and I don't know shit about this but I am rooting for you)

What is with being proud to be gay? Do you feel some sense of accomplishment? You're not a special species, so get over your fake, trumped up high fives. If your parents flip out, it's a natural response to the fact that their daughter has pulled herself out of the gene-pool. They won't be grandparents. How about a little sympathy for your parents? This is not gay hate, but pro family. Be careful of being too proud, it's only insincere raw-rawing...

They already know. I have a gay son, and i knew all of his life. He didn't need to tell me. I have grandkids from my other sons. i have 5. Parents probably choose not to discuss it too. You don't need to tell them.

I know how you feel I thought the same way but once you get it out you would feel better it's your life.

My daughter is a lesbian and I love her dearly and she is 17 . Her father knows as well and has not said anything about it at all. We love our children unconditionally . If your parents love you as most parents do then they are still going to love you after knowing . It saddens me that you feel they are going to feel differently towards you knowing you prefer women to men. Good Luck Honey.

I'm sorry to hear that, I hope they'll love you unconditionally when they find out.

lol, Thats funny that you think that they dont know. Most parents know before you tell anyone. Families dont keep secrets too well anyways

My grand daughter feels the same way, I told her that we love her no matter who she chooses to live with !

I've never bothered coming out to my family. My parents are simple people, whose lives center around the parish and the Knights and the White Eagle Club, etc. They would actually be hurt and think they "did something wrong." Besides, we are pretty dysfunctional to begin with, and we have so much other stuff going on, that my coming out would just be one more "act" everybody could do without. Everybody must do what works for them.
