Can't you talk to your ex about staying a positive role model for the child? My eldest is not biologically my husbands but I would hope that if we were apart he'd still treat him as his own. He's a good guy and I acknowledge that, and I would hate to pull them apart.

I have a "son" too. Fortunately, for both of us, I have been allowed to remain a part of his life for the past 6 years. I have cherished every moment we've had together and he just doesn't know it any other way. A blessing for all involved!

You will always be there in his heart. I'm sure he feels the same way about you.

My ex pretty much black-mailed me with my 'son'. Basically, she said that if I didn't continue to pay her bills, give her extra spending money, giver her my car (purchased by me when we were no longer together) and give her $1,000... I'd never see him again. After paying all of this stuff for a year prior and not getting to see him anyways, I told her that it wasn't going to work because she wasn't letting me see him anyways. Not surprised when I later discovered that she hadn't 'lost' her first son, but actually sold him.

I am in the same boat. My ex has decided to "punish" me by depriving him of the only father he has known for the past 8 years - he was 3 years old when they moved in. He will always be my son.

I had the same thing happen to me. I was with her and him from when he turned 4 till 11 when she and I divorced.I was not a good husband - my errors were those of omission not commission - and we needed to be apart. But the boy and I had a good relationship. At first she promised not to interfere with our stepfather/stepson relationship, but that soon changed. I plan on seeing him on his 18th birthday but it our next visit likely won't happen even a day before then. He is 12 right now.

I divorced my ex and her two kids. They are grown now and have done nothing with their lives. As kids, they pitted my wife and I against each other and she was too stupid to see the difference. Good riddence!

I feel the same about my ex's cat. Weird, eh?

I am recently divorced and wish my husband would have loved my son as his own. It makes me so sad. I've left the 'door' open for him to see my son whenever he likes, but he never pursues spending any time with him. He cherishes our youngest (his biological son) and I wish he would have had the same affection for my child. My oldest is devastated.
