My greatest fear is to die having never truly been in love.

i'm 40 & have never been in love either - at least with someone who was in love with me. this scares the crap outta me cuz i don't think i can't wait 20 more years.

Try to get out and socialize, maybe a community park program, badminton, volleyball or something like that, I bet you'll make a special friend in no time, good luck.

Lucky bastard! I've been in love twice and been crushed twice. Like a bug. You'll never know greater misery.

I have been in love a few times I agree with the previous post. It is the greatest misery one can experience. It is really over rated. People have been in love with me that I didn't love back and that sucked also. The dog is the best. Get a big dog so you can hug it and it will keep you warm at night and you find the joy of love and being loved without the misery.

love is waaay over rated. u should enjoy ur life as it is.

I was never loved until I lowered my "standards". When I let go of my selection criteria and befriended anyone that needed a friend my life became better.

"and you never will"??????? What is that? Hey, I'm 60, can absolutely tell you it is not too late.

you have to go after it, it won't persue you.

I have lived long enough to know that it is far better to BE loved than to love. I too have loved many but have never felt love. The closest thing came from a stranger who was being nice.

At age 18 I married my one true love. He became a pastor but there was something missing in our lives. After 30 years he said he never loved me. He had had numerous affairs and just walked away from God, me and our children. Sometimes it hurts so bad to love.

love isnt really all it is cracked up to be. Maybe you are really better off

You are never too old to find love. There was an 81 and 86 year old on the news not long ago that tied the knot. That story was after one about a woman that was 110. So they could have 20 years together. I'm 27 and what started as a friendship ended up as a 51 year old man falling in love with me. But I am married...I fell in love when I wasn't looking. Perhaps you are looking too hard. Enjoy your life the was it is and someone else will fall in place to enjoy it with you.

Love is infinitely better the second time around...and with someone older...God sent me His best angel after I walked through hell. Dreams really do come true ...keep yours alive

I am male and have not had sex for 27 years. I masturbate maybe 3 times a year. My testosterone level is very, very low. No treatments due to fear of cancer from it. I have no sex drive at all. I just got a dog and he is my child. "The boys throw stones at the frogs in sport but the frogs, they do not die in sport, they die in earnest" To be placed on my headstone.

You have NO idea if anyone loved you. Someone may have loved you very, very depply and you might have been afraid/too blind/ etc...

That is so sad. I'm sorry for you, but don't forget God loves you!

I'm 59 and in the same position. After awhile you become numb to it, and have no further expectations, but thats really okay. I accept it. Things could be a lot worse. I have pretty good health, enough income to keep current on bills, own my little townhouse, and pretty soon the car will be paid for and I'll have no debts. Thats all a pretty good deal. At this late stage I wouldn't change a thing.

I know hou you feel. I turn 60 tomorrow and feel like I will be alone the rest of my life. I love my dogs and they love me, but sometimes you just want a human touch,a hand to hold.

Jesus..........he loves you !

I love you as well. Don't give up hope. There are many caring people left, I know it seems like people have changed...when you stop looking....that's when your love will find you. Go to church sweety. My grandmother was alone for 12 years after my grandpa died. But she was never truly alone and loved greatly.

I know exactly how you feel. Some of these jerks here don't know because they have never walked in these shoes.

To all of you who say "I love you" to this stranger, it is a lie, sincere or not. You cannot love someone without knowing him deep down. To love every man is to love none. It is presumptuous and downright rude to tell a lonely man that there is a mystical force out there that "loves" him. Religion is poisoning your minds.

If you want true love read the Bible and learn of our Lord Jesus Christ. I would suggest you get a pet to comfort you in the meantime. There is nothing like coming home to a dog who meets you at the door happy to see you! I have been married 37 years and my wife quit doing that years ago :)

I can relate. I am 43 and have not experienced love either. I've given up hope. But after finding this site today and reading this topic and a few of the comments, I see I'm not alone.

go to the bunny ranch, its much cheaper too find love there,at 60 you just end up with someone with alot of baggage, their brat kids,ex,s and who knows what else.

You have a mistaken idea of what love is. Learn to put another person's happiness before your own. Pick someone to do that with and they will eat it up. To get love, learn to give it. It's not that magical crap the movies told you it is.

I understand how you feel better than you might imagine. However, I also deal in facts. The overwhelming majority of romantic relationships end in great unhappiness. "Be careful what you wish for." I learned this the hard way and hope you will not need to do the same.

66 here, and also never been loved by a woman. I've been IN love a couple of times, but it wasn't reciprocated. Got married, but it turned out that she only wanted a sperm donor and not a husband. It would be really, REALLY nice to have a human female to comfort me and to warm my bed. But, besides being out of the dating game for 40 years, I'm very uncomfortable putting my heart out there again. It is very interesting to me that there are others my age who have also gone this long without love. My best advice from personal experience: Get a dog.
